How to Apply

Public Officers Group Insurance Scheme (POGIS) is brought to you by the Public Service Division and underwritten by Aviva, with the objective to customise financial solutions to address your needs. Several key features have been enhanced to give you and your loved ones additional protection.

Key benefits of POGIS
With 24-hour worldwide insurance protection, you and your loved ones can rest assured knowing that if the worst happens; POGIS will take over to help ease the financial burdens of those who were left behind:

Coverage in event of Death

  • 100% sum assured will be payable upon all causes of death (except suicide within the first year)
  • An additional 25% on top of the basic sum assured will be payable in the event of accidental death

Coverage in event of Total and Permanent Disablement

  • 100% sum assured will be payable in the event of total and permanent disablement (except self-inflicted injuries in the first year)
  • An additional 1% of the sum assured payable monthly over the next 24 months or till age 65, whichever is earlier
  • This benefit is only applicable to public officers and their dependants up to age 65.

Coverage in event of Permanent and Partial Disablement

  • Benefit payouts for permanent and partial disablement due to accident. Click here for Table of compensation.
  • This benefit is only applicable to public officers and their dependants up to age 65.

Enhanced Benefits
Now with Aviva, you and your spouse can receive up to a maximum of $500,000 for Basic Term Life coverage and $300,000 for Critical Illness coverage. What's more, your dependent child(ren) with attained age of 12 months to 6 years are entitled to free coverage, if both parents are POGIS policyholders. Critical Illnesses Cover
POGIS provides an optional rider to cover you against 37 critical illnesses for added protection. Aviva allows you to select coverage of up to a maximum of $300,000 for yourself and your spouse to meet your critical illness needs even until the age of 70.

After Retirement Insurance
POGIS coverage continues after you retire from the public service, up to age 70. This includes Public Officers who:

  • Opt for early retirement
  • Retire under medical grounds
  • Are at least 40 years old when they leave the public service under the Special Resignation Scheme and Special Gratuity Scheme

Attention: Group Operations

For applications received on or before the 20th of the month, the coverage will commence on the 1st of 2 subsequent months (note that this is subject to approval).

For simple illustration, an application received on or before 20 July 2013 (upon approval) will commence on 1 September 2013.

Premium deduction via GIRO will start on the 10th of the same month upon the acceptance of your coverage, provided that the bank has approved the GIRO application.

Important Notes:

  • Sum assured for your dependants must not be higher than yours. Premium rates are not guaranteed
  • Sum assured for Critical illness must not be higher than the Basic Term Life Cover
  • If your cover is terminated in the event of death or total permanent disablement, your spouse and children's existing coverage will continue up to the expiry of the main policy or termination of the coverage, whichever is earlier
  • As the main applicant under Public Officers Group Insurance Scheme, you must be covered under the scheme before your spouse and children are eligible to sign up for the plan
  • You and your spouse/children will need to be covered under the Basic Term Life coverage before they can apply for the Critical Illness rider
  • Coverage under the Public Officers Group Insurance will terminate once you are no longer employed by the Public Services, except when termination is due to special resignation or special gratuity scheme of retirement. You may then opt for your coverage to continue till age 70
  • Entry age for you and your spouse is from age 16 to 65; coverage will stop at age 70
  • Entry age for your child is from age of 12 months to 18 years; coverage will terminate at age 18
