Got any questions?

Do I qualify for Aviva Travel insurance?

In order to qualify for travel insurance from Aviva, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You live in Singapore for at least 183 days in a year and you have a valid NRIC or FIN.
  • You are at least 16 years old at the time of purchase (only required if you are the applicant)
  • The journey is a round trip, beginning and ending in Singapore.
  • You are not travelling contrary to the advice of a qualified medical practitioner or for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment.
  • You have bought the policy before you leave Singapore on your trip.

How far in advance should I purchase single trip insurance?

If your trip includes pre-payments or deposits for say, hotels, airlines and other travel needs, we recommend that you buy travel insurance before making these payments to protect yourself against trip cancellation charges. Aviva's highest-tier travel cover, Travel Prestige also offers Trip Cancellation For Any Reason and Change of Travelling Dates for Any Reason that would be useful to guard against losing early payments. Just buy this tier of travel insurance within 7 days of making your pre-payments or deposits.

For example:
You paid for your air ticket on 1st June 2017 but paid for your accommodation on 1st Oct 2017 for a trip from 1st Dec 2017 to 14th Dec 2017.

You are required to purchase the travel insurance latest by 8th June 2017 in order to be covered under this section.

I am a member of the Aviva MINDEF / MHA group insurance. Can I get a discount?

Got an insurance policy under MINDEF/MHA's voluntary scheme? Then yes, you (and also your spouse, children, parents and siblings too) are absolutely eligible for a 30% discount off your travel insurance premium! Click here to buy.

If you're covered under MINDEF/MHAs core scheme only and want to upgrade to the voluntary scheme to get discounts and other goodies, call our Aviva Relationship C'onsultants at 6827 8000 (Mondays to Fridays excluding Public Holidays, 8:45am to 5:30pm). Or email us at

What is the difference between Travel Prestige, Travel Plus and Travel Lite?

The differences are in the policy features and maximum amounts payable per person per trip in the event of a claim. For the best cover and highest protection, we suggest you choose 'Travel Prestige' plan. You can view the travel policy document and compare the amounts payable for each of the policy features, to help you choose the one that is right for you.

I will be travelling to more than two countries and will be back to Singapore before flying to the next country (e.g. Singapore > Thailand> Singapore > Australia > Singapore). Should I buy a single or multi-trip plan?

Sounds like a great trip! In this case, you'd need to buy a multi-trip policy because the coverage for a single-trip policy ends anytime you return to Singapore or your departure point. Also, having a multi-trip or annual travel insurance would be a more economical solution than buying several single-trip plans.

What does the Overseas Wedding & Wedding Photo Shoot cover?

First of all – congratulations on your nuptials! Having an overseas wedding or bridal photoshoot is already an investment– but can be even more costly if mishaps occur. We're not just talking about money – can you imagine the emotional trauma of losing or accidentally tearing your bespoke wedding gown? Or what if your rustic wedding gazebo were to suddenly collapse over your guests in the front row? Trust us, it won't be pretty. So we came up with this add-on cover for accidental loss or damage to your ceremonial attire and accessories, loss of marriage certificate and personal liability of invited guests at your wedding venue overseas (remember that creaky gazebo?). Also… just in case it happens, you're covered if your wedding planner goes bankrupt and leaves you in the lurch or if your wedding photo album is lost or damaged en route to Singapore.

The charge for this add-on is 'per couple'. So if you and your partner are purchasing 2 separate insurance policies, you just need to add this option for either of you, not both.

Are there any restricted countries?

Unfortunately yes and they are Afghanistan, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iran, Iraq, Liberia, Sudan, or Syria. So we don't cover any claims that result from your travel in, to or through these countries.

Bummer! Quick, report the theft or loss to the police within 24 hours of discovering it. Make sure to ask them for a report in writing. If you think it's the airline, transport company or hotel that could be responsible for this, let them know and ask for a written report as well.
